1. School Organisers and Staff
The School was organised by the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Belgrade , The Centre for the Study of Democracy of the University of Westminster and The Anglo-Yugoslav Society.
In academic terms the School was managed by two Co-directors: Prof. Margaret Blunden, Provost of the University of Westminster and Prof. Vukasin Pavlovic, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Belgrade . In organisational terms the School was managed by Slobodan Markovich, Executive Director of the School and Ms. Marija Janjatovic, Secretary of the School.
The School lasted twelve days and ten of them were working days while weekend was free for participants who were advised to read readings during weekend. Each of the ten days had three morning lectures and there were additional three evening lectures which gives the total of thirty-three lectures that were held during the summer school. The first week was dedicated to Consolidation of New Democracies and included the following lecturers: Prof. Margaret Blunden, Prof. Vukasin Pavlovic, Prof. Richard Whitman, Prof. Vucina Vasovic and Prof. Mijat Damjanovic. During the second week three lecturers also spoke on democratic consolidation: Prof. Joseph Julian, Prof. Vojislav Stanovcic, and Dr. George Voskopoulos. Otherwise the second week was dedicated to the Media in Post-Communist Countries and included the following lecturers: Prof. Colin Sparks (he was also Co-ordinator of the second week), Prof. Peter Gross, Prof. Yuezhi Zhao, Dr. Elena Koltsova and Milica Pesic, MA.
There were also twelve afternoon sessions of Student Discussion Club . At these sessions the students discussed how the issues related to the School programme. All students were divided into two groups and five sub-groups. The first group dealt with Democratic Consolidation of SEE and had three sub-groups: 1. Political Aspects of Democratic Consolidation in SEE, 2. Economic Aspects of Democratic Consolidation in SEE, 3. International Aspects of Democratic Consolidation in SEE. The second group dealt with the Media in Post-Communist Countries and had two sub-groups: 1. Society and Media in Post-Communist Countries, and 2. Extremism and Media in SEE. All the students were supposed to prepare essays from the field they selected and to read the essays in the presence of other participants during the last Student Discussion Club.

Departure
After each week of the School the students filled evaluation forms with an aim to evaluate every lecturer through five categories: 1. How well prepared was the lecturer, 2. How clear was s/he in delivering his/her lecture, 3. What was the level of his/her inter-activity, 4. How interesting was the topic to the students, 5. What was general impression of the School. Next to each lecturers' name the students had space to write their written comments. The students also evaluated food, accommodation, excursion, organisation of the School, and Student Discussion Club.

In terms of general impression the highest marks by the students have been given to three lecturers Prof. Peter Gross, Prof. Joseph Julian and Prof. Vojislav Stanovcic. The best prepared lecturer was Prof. Stanovcic. In terms of clarity the students liked most Prof. Peter Gross who also delivered lectures that were the most interesting. The best inter-active approach was performed by Prof. Joseph Julian. Overall avarage for all five categories demonstrate that the students were rather satisfied with the School.

Among twenty-nine participants thirteen were from Serbia, two from Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Hellenic Republic, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as one from Croatia and (F.Y.R.) Macedonia. There were also two US citizens living in the region: one in Hungary and one in Serbia . There was a substantial interest in this year programme and consequently the School received around hundred applications but due to limited number of participants had to reject most of them. The most of applicants were from Serbia , Romania , Bulgaria and Albania . The most of participants are post-graduate students and some of them are junior faculties. Majority is associated with some NGOs or political organisations in their countries.

The School gathered prominent Serbian and foreign political scientists. There were five political scientists from Serbia , four from the United Kingdom , two from the USA , one from Canada , one from the Hellenic Republic and one from the Russian Federation . Two originally planned lecturers: Prof. Splihal from Slovenia and Prof. Vujacic from Belgrade were not able to come.
